The TNVR Approach

Dr. Amy spearheads the effort to combat the overpopulation of strays through TNVR, which she views as both a practical and humane solution. She believes in teaching local communities this practice to reduce human-animal conflict and improve the well-being of both people and animals alike.

Initially focused on dogs due to the significant human-animal conflict, Dr. Amy's organization has begun to address stray cat populations as well. Her global work extends from Asia to Russia, reflecting diverse challenges and responses to stray animal management.

Dr. Amy's experiences highlight the complex cultural dynamics surrounding TNVR programs. While the strategy is widely accepted for cats, implementing it for dogs faces challenges, especially in some regions, where free-living dogs are not accepted.

Dr. Amy candidly shared her transformative experiences from working in Elephant Nature Park in Thailand to observing TNVR in action in Mumbai. These experiences have deepened her understanding of international animal welfare and influenced her innovative approaches in the U.S. and beyond.

Dr. Amy is ambitious about expanding her work. She dreams of influencing entire regions to adopt TNVR by spreading awareness and building local capacities.

Bhutan stands as a beacon for what can be achieved, with its national effort to sterilize and vaccinate stray populations.
